First time home buyers here on the Big Island, Hilo, HI and the team at Hawaii Veterans United Home Loans made it seem like such a breeze buying a home. Nathan BERNIER and Destiny CARRILLO were both professional and personable, a pleasure to work with. From attending a couple of their seminars under Tony DIAZ, all the way to signing the closing disclosure, my wife and I confided in Veterans United Home Loans because of their shared experiences and hard work. The only issue I had was the misunderstanding of paying closing cost. I originally wanted to pay a portion of the closing cost with hopes of bringing down the APR from 4% to something lower. Shawn mentioned that I would be able to do that by just having the funds available in my account prior to closing. At the closing date I followed up with this and I was not able to bring the APR down. The papers would have to be drawn up again and the closing date pushed back. I opted to just keep the 4% but I would appreciate it more if there was more clarity, understanding, and trust in our discussions.

I waited almost 2 years for the VA to put together some sort of DD214 for me to no avail. One call to Brooks Onishi at Waikeli office and within 2 weeks I was qualified.

Nate Bernier, handled my intial loan, he was professional, but personable! and very attentive. He was quick to reply to all my questions, it was only natural for me to return to Nate to refinance my loan! Great job!!
